For more than 20 years, I had the privilege of serving students as an educator. My career included teaching at the United States Air Force Academy and the University of Wyoming, where I also served as Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. I have since retired from the University of Wyoming after more than two decades of teaching, mentoring students, and advancing engineering education. Those experiences gave me a firsthand appreciation for the power of education to change lives, strengthen communities, and prepare the next generation of Wyoming leaders. They are why I am committed to supporting Wyoming’s students, families, and educators.
Strong K–12 schools are the foundation of our state’s future. I believe parents should have the freedom to choose the educational path that best meets the needs of their children while ensuring Wyoming continues to provide a strong, high-quality public education for every student.
I also recognize that success looks different for every student. A four-year college degree is the right path for many, but it is not the only path. Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are essential to developing the skilled workforce that powers Wyoming’s economy. By expanding opportunities in the trades, technical fields, and workforce training, we can prepare students for rewarding careers while meeting the needs of Wyoming employers.
The University of Wyoming, our community colleges, and our CTE programs all play vital roles in preparing the next generation of leaders, innovators, educators, healthcare professionals, and skilled tradespeople. These institutions strengthen our communities, support our core industries, and help create opportunities that encourage young people to build their futures here in Wyoming.
If elected, I will work to support an education system that provides opportunity, respects parents, prepares students for success, and strengthens Wyoming’s future.
